There ARE plans for a TES Gathering event in 2010 It may be held in the Mystic Connecticut area in May. PLEASE WATCH THIS PAGE FOR INFORMATION ******* MYSTIC SEAPORT MUSEUM TUG EXHIBIT OPENS IN MAY 2010 The Mystic Seaport Museum has just announced a new exhibit on tugboats, now scheduled to open on May 8, 2010. The exhibit is planned for a one year time frame. We encourage our members and friends to support Mystic Seaport in this important project and to make plans to visit the exhibit. THE WORKBOAT SHOW The workboat show was held in New Orleans in December, and we have some interesting news from there. We were informed that they no longer allow you to take any pictures of the exhibits, including your own! If you want any photos you have to buy the ones offered by their "official" photographer. This came to us as information pertaining to the display of cutaway engines at the show. So if you are planning on attending next year and want to have any photos to remember the trip, you might want to check the rules first before you make plans to attend. ******* PHOTOS AND THE INTERNET It recently came to our attention that Google Images has been "indexing"images from our website and has posted them on their website with only the disclaimer that "images may be copyrighted". They have done this without regard for our individual page copyright notices or photographer credit lines. We ask our many members who have generously contributed photos to understand that this was done without our permission and is beyond our control. The only defense against this type of situation is to imprint a copyright notice directly on the image in a location where it cannot be easily edited out. We are starting to do that with new image postings, but it is useless to do it for images that have already been taken. ******* WRITE FOR TUGBITTS We hope you enjoy this website, but if you are thinking of submitting an article or story for the website, please consider instead writing it for TUGBITTS. Websites are fun but they are just a bunch of electrons, their existence is temporary, and their contents are too easily pirated by others.
