This model of a Detroit Diesel 6-71 engine was
widely used as a paperweight, as the central display in an ashtray,
and as a base mounted desk model displayed alone or with a pen
set. The model appears to be constructed of cast aluminum, and
is about 1:12 scale. Its probable period of production was the
1940s and 1950s.

The superb Detroit Diesel 6.2 engine is the subject
of this tiny desk model or paperweight, made of pewter and barely
two inches square. The 6.2 was built by Detroit Diesel for Chevrolet
and other GM divisions to power light trucks and the Chevrolet
Suburban. It was also widely used in marine and industrial applications.
The time period of this engine could be the late 1980s through
the 1990s
