
This Caterpillar C15 Acert engine
model is a commercial item produced by Norscot for sale at Caterpillar
dealerships. It is built from metal and plastic, and is about
1:12 scale. The model was in production recently, and is still
generally available.

This Caterpillar D397 desk model
probably dates from the 1950s. It is about 1:15 scale, and appears
to be constructed of electroplated aluminum. The base has a groove
for holding a pen on one side, and also has a hole where a pen
used to be mounted.

This skid mounted 3516B engine
with radiator, cooling fan, and instrument panel was built by
Norscot as a sales promotional item for Caterpillar. The engine
is 1/25 scale, metal construction and well detailed. It was produced
up to about 2009, but can still be found in internet auctions.
The engine and generator are easily separable from the skid.

This Caterpillar 3176 desk model
is constructed of pewter on a painted wood base with an engraved
identification plate. It probably dates from the 1990s and is
about 1:15 scale.
